KKHH bags seven awards at NY ceremony

HlNDI blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the run away favourite with non-resident Indians here, bagging as many as seven awards in a glittering Bollywood awards ceremony here on Sunday night.
The movie starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol secured awards for best actor, best actress, best director, best choreographer, best costume designer, best screeenplay and best film. Shahrukh and Kajol won the best actor and actress awards while Karan Johar bagged the award for the best director. Khan also won an award for the best sensational performance.
Anupam Kher and Shilpa Shetty won the best supporting actor and actress awards for their performances in Saalakhen and Pardesi Babu respectively.
Pooja Bhatt and Ajay Devgan won the critics awards for the best actress and actor in Zakhm while Fardeen Khan and Preity Zinta were adjudged the best promising newcomers. Pop star Michael Jackson, attired in a traditional Indian flowing kurta. was honoured with a humanitarian award.
A special pride of India award was given to Shekhar Kapur for placing Indian movie talent on the global map with his stunning effort as director of Elizabeth. Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, who created the Phantom of The Opera, while presenting the award to Kapur announced that he had been chosen to direct a forthcoming movie based on the Phantom of The Opera.
