Film to be shown after deleting portions

HYDERABAD, April 6:
A Division Bench of the A.P High Court, comprising Mr. Justice B. Subhashan Reddy and Mr Justice Y V. Narayana, on Tuesday permitted the screening of Telugu feature film ‘English pellam — East Godavari Mogudu’ after the deletion of some scenes and dialogue as the producer gave an undertaking to this effect.
It may be recalled that in a writ petition filed by Mr. K. L. Rao, a practising advocate, the Bench earlier stayed the screening of the film. The petitioner complained that many scenes contained vulgar dialogue showing women bad light. He referred to a ‘shocking’ scene wherein a woman judicial officer, who is adjudicating a murder case, was abused by a person and subsequently he assaulted her trying to out rage her modesty. The Bench viewed the film on Saturday in a private screening and then the producer came forward to delete scenes offend-1 ing the judiciary. He submitted a list of scenes which were to be deleted. The Bench recorded the same directing that deletions be carried out and then screen the film.
