The Young Researchers’ Workshop, initiated by the students of CSCS, Bangalore, aims to look at the possibilities of research in the emergent contexts of contemporary social sciences and humanities in India. The attempt is to use the theme of interdisciplinarity to address new methodologies, areas and concerns. The workshop this year, addresses the broad field of culture and society; emphasizing the need to alter the place that culture holds in our political understanding, particularly in the following areas- democracy, gender, caste, ethnicity, region, urban/rural spaces, visuality, media, and education.
