Fellowships at CSCS

The CSCS Fellowships Programme began in 2002 to make its substantial library and faculty resources available to a range of researchers outside the institution.

Visiting Fellows

CSCS provides affiliation to Indian and international researchers for varying periods of time. In addition CSCS also invites academics to interact with faculty and students and to present their work at the Centre.

Objects of regulation

Having examined the notion of media, concepts associated with media and the concept and practice of regulation, this module will focus on the objects of regulation. Specifically, we will deal with regulations concerning pornography and surveillance.

1) Playblog: Pornography, Performance and Cyberspace:

This article provides an analytical framework into understanding the anxieties and the logics that have gone behind the framing laws concerning pornography. The article also fundamentally questions what constitutes pornography and how does one understand pornography in the context of cyberspace.

2) Shuddhabratha Sengupta: "Signatures of the Apocalypse"

This article investigates the nature of surveillance that has been and is being instituted by the state. It looks at the complexities that surveillance laws bring in when they are implemented. The article also examines how subject categories are produced with the implementation of surveillance techniques.
