CSCS offers up to five fellowships every year to undergraduate teachers who wish to spend a month working in the library on independent research projects. The Library Fellowships Programme provides undergraduate teachers the opportunity to take time off their busy teaching and administrative responsibilities to focus on research.
The Programme is envisaged as an extension into new areas of the broad thrust of the Educational Initiatives Programme's undergraduate and curricular initiatives. The EIP has sought to intervene in the field of undergraduate education by building a long term interaction and dialogue with faculty members.
The Library Fellowships Programme is a direct outcome of keen interest shown by undergraduate faculty in the CSCS library. The programme aims at sustained interaction between CSCS faculty and students with visiting undergraduate faculty members and other researchers.
The primary focus of the programme is undergraduate teachers. However, PhD students enrolled in smaller and relatively underprivileged universities too are eligible for the fellowships.
Applications are invited from interested college teachers and other researchers from any part of India who are interested in independent research in the field of cultural studies/interdisciplinary research.
The fellowship will be offered for a period of about 30-40 days, which may be broken up into two fortnights' work at CSCS any time during the year, so as to enable researchers to work during their vacations. During this period applicants will be expected to work at the CSCS library.
At the end of the research period, fellows will be expected to submit a report of their research findings at the Centre. At least one fellowship every year is available for candidates who wish to design undergraduate syllabi in their respective specialization. The amount for fellowship available would be Rs. 5000 for teachers who are residents of Bangalore and Rs. 10,000 for those from outside the city. Those selected for the fellowship will also be given a two-year membership to the CSCS Library.
Interested applicants are requested to submit:
- A detailed resume - A research proposal (about 500 words) clearly outlining their interest in the area, their previous work (if any) in the field and the relevance of their current research interest.
Applicants are requested to look up our online library catalogue: www.cscsarchive.org/Library, to get a sense of the resources available at the Centre. The applications should indicate how the CSCS library would be useful to the applicant's research. Selected candidates may be asked to submit proof of employment/institutional affiliation at the time of joining.
